Seriously, though, I know there are many incomplete lists out there, usually with the films grouped by series. I just wanted one that's sorted chronologically.

Added a bunch of crap. Really just wanted to give a shout out to Yoko Mihara. I spotted her in the first Scorpion movie; she's the inmate with red hair. Then in ZERO WOMAN: RED HANDCUFFS she's got red hair again. Older lady, kinda fleshy, but not shy about doing nudity. Usually plays a baddie, to perfection. Was watching SEX & FURY and there she is again, but with black hair. Chris D. mentions in the audio commentary that she had been doing movies since the '50's. Checked her out on imdb and damn if she isn't in a ton of great movies. Must be in her 70's now, if she's still with us. Best wishes, Ms. Mihara!

Fujita's Stray Cat Rock films are hardly pinky violence. Wild Jumbo is a youth pic with a tiny bit of action in the end (but only 2 of the 6 main characters are women). Beat '71 is about a hippie commune. Meiko holds a gun in one scene, but that's it for "violence" performed by women. Neither film has any sex in them, although Beat '71 features one brief, non-sexual nude scene.

Just thought I should mention so that people won't be disappointed when they see them. Good films both, though.

Mikko, I absolutely hear where you are coming from. Those are the two Stray Cat films I haven't seen, but there was no way I was going to leave STRAY CAT ROCK: SEX HUNTER off the list, or only include part of the series. I'll probably also add the Ishii "torture" sextet at some point, although in my mind pinky violence is more about the '70's girl gangs than the period stuff. I realize I am in the minority there.

On a related note, I just added the Girl's Junior High School trilogy. Have no idea as to the content--I don't believe these have been released on DVD anywhere. They probably suck, but look awesome. Will fill in credits later if I can find them.

Haven't seen the Hot Springs Geisha films, but if I can fill in missing release dates, I'd probably add them. Same with the Delinquent Boss films. Whereas I would be reluctant to include straight period action films, like Lady Snow Blood.

Marshall, I agree about Stray Cat. There’s no point in listing just part of the series. And Sex Hunter is one of my favourites, too.

Personally I’d consider Ishii’s torture films pinky violence, but obviously they are not pinky violence as we’ve come to know the genre.

Even more problematic are some period films and dramas. I haven’t seen the Hot Springs films but I’d assume they are pink comedies without (any?) violence. I believe have seen all the pink films Toei has released on dvd. Here’s some info from violence point of view. You probably have seen some of these:

Tokugawa onna keizu: comedy / drama with maybe one stabbing, can’t recall any other violence

Modern Porno Tale: drama with one brief, slighly violent scene

Tokugawa Sex Ban: drama/comedy. Features one very brief sword fight, a little bit of torture, and a the most amazing suicide scene you’ll ever see. Still, these violent scenes only take maybe 6 or 7 minutes of the film’s running time, the rest is drama/comedy.

Lustful Shogun and His 21 Mistresses: drama / comedy, but features Reiko Ike as a ninja (with the most revealing mask you’ve ever seen). I think there were two fight scenes. Not very long but the fight in the rain is memorable. It’s copied from Red Peony Gambler 2, and was later re-used in Female Yakuza Tale (this time more exploitative).

Story of a Nymphomaniac: drama / comedy. Can’t recall any violence

Ooku ukiyo-buro: drama. No violence as far as I recall

Mantis Wife’s Confession: Drama with brief violence in one scene.

Dolls of Shogun’s Harem: 1986 film, so you may not want to consider this at all. Drama with one brief sword fight. Also one highly stylized torture scene. Lustful Shogun is probably closes to pinky violence of these as the action is performed by ladies, and the amount is higher than in those other films (but it's still just a few scenes)

Personally I’d call all of those pinku eiga rather than pinky violence. However, they are all (except Dolls) listed in the book ”Pinky Violence – Toei’s Bad Girl Films” (you probably own that).

If you decide to include Ishii’s torture films, it would be a good idea to include Love and Crime as well. It’s an episode film, with each story having a violent ending (and often not just the ending). My favourite is the b&w serial killer story with Asao Koike. But, like The Joy of Torture and Inferno of Torture, this is not a ”girls kick ass” sort of film.

@ Lars, that list includes loads of Nikkatsu roman porno films (not much to do with pinky violence) and also recent films.

Still so many questions. I revised the dates on the first three DELINQUENT GIRL BOSS films; I think the new ones are correct. I was thrown off because in the book, PINKY VIOLENCE: TOEI'S BAD GIRL FILMS, there is a fifth Reiko Oshida film listed, dated 6/13/70. Anyone know what it might be? On page 38 of that book, it lists a horror film with a release date of 1/29/75. Is this THE BEDEVILLED with Reiko Ike? On page 58 it lists a delightful looking film with a release date of 9/29/73. No idea on that one. I'd also love to know what Sharon Kelly film(s) are being discussed toward the end.

I think they must be getting their release dates from jmdb. You can browse by year and match the title to whatever info may be in your book. Ha, then run it through a web translator for a poor excuse for an english title.

My guess would be "The Three Queen Bees" with Junko Summer and Reiko Ohara on 6/13/70. Reiko Oshida is not in the online credits, but that does not mean she could not have been in it.

A Mako Midori ghost movie on 9/29/73. Translates to "The Japanese Ghost Transmission". The video box looks pretty sexy:

ExploitAsian seems to have got their hands on the new Toei DVD of Girl Boss Blues: Queen Bee's Counterattack. With no legit subbed release in sight, I went ahead and bought it. A fine fine PV film. You won't find the intense violence toward women that will become a staple in later films, but there are plenty of the WTF fun and games that make this genre so cool.
