ok, my inner child is diggin' some old school martial arts / kung-fu flicks as of late. I've been though most of the Dragon Dynasty releases, and now need to move on. There are 2 problems however; One, there are just so many old shaw brothers flicks etc. out there, how is one man supposed to wade through to find the cream of the crop. Two, I know there are a lot of shady companies releasing crappy gray-market rip-off versions of these fine films. So, aside from what Dragon Dynasty has put out, can you guys point me to some of the better old school flicks that have been released in descent uncut wide-screen versions from reputable companies?

I've been procrastinating and procrastinating about fixing my ONG BAK situation. I originally picked up the US DVD right around street date, unaware both 1) of the different version and 2) that the first pressing would eventually be revealed to only have an HOH track for the English subs. Well, I've been sitting on it a while, telling myself that some day I would rectify things, and it finally hit me - why not just get one of the decent foreign releases of the film instead of trying to find a replacement for this crappy Fox disk, which is re-edited and includes a bunch of dumb rap-related extras that I'm not interested in.

Anyway, there seem to be about 1000 releases of this movie, though browsing around at hkflix, it seems most of them are out of print (or at least HKflix isn't stocking them anymore). As far as I've read, the UK or Australian releases seem to be the way to go. Is one particularly preferable? Most important to me is just having the original Thai version, unaltered in any way. After that, a shit-ton of extras would be nice. Looks like I can grab either pretty easily on ebay (both) or amazon (for UK, at least), so yeah - which is the most preferable release?

I just noticed in the Animeigo thread that Demon Spies and Shadow Hunters I, II are going OOP so I picked them up. Now is the time if you want them, since the prices already seems to be going up. Anyways I started thinking about what are some of the really good ninja movies or TV series. Here is a list that I like.

Shinobi No Mono Volume 1 (I've watched the first two so far and love this series)
Shadow Warriors Season 1 (Right up there with Shinobi No Mono in terms of realistic portrayal of Ninjas, but still being entertaining to watch)
Five Elemental Ninjas

Anime: Ninja Scroll movie
Basilisk

Unfortunately there aren't a lot of great ones that I know of so I couldn't come up with a bigger list. Any other suggestions of great ones would be great.
